making a heavy crypto-mining app easy to buy into
ecos — earn bitcoin without owning hardware. web, comms & 3d + contributor on the app redesign. sep 2023 – may 2024, armenia.

about the product
ecos is a crypto-mining company. its app lets people earn bitcoin without owning hardware — through cloud-mining contracts, mining farms, token indexes, and staking, for a web3-native audience. i joined as a web & communication designer (3d, social, promo) and worked as a visual designer on the mobile app redesign (android → ios, flutter) alongside the lead ui/ux designer.
role
web & communication designer · app redesign contributor
period
sep 2023 – may 2024 · armenia
team
lead ui/ux designer + me (+ a second visual designer)
context
a founder-led product. design tasks came top-down from the ceo. the lead held overall ux; i drove the visual layer and proposed product solutions for specific flows. approved ideas shipped to production.
problems
a heavy entry to the core purchase
buying cloud-mining hashpower ran through a single large calculator — powerful, but a wall for a first-time buyer. the barrier to the most important action was too high.
the product range was invisible
the home screen had to keep the wallet (a ceo requirement), leaving no room to surface the actual products — cloud mining, mining farms, indexes, staking.
a new product to design from zero
“indexes” — basket investing for a crypto audience — had no existing pattern. the whole flow, from selection to how a position lives in the wallet, had to be designed.
process
- 1. proposals — i brought solution ideas for specific flows; the lead held overall ux, and we built the visual system together.
- 2. android → ios — reworked screens and interaction for ios specifics as the app moved from android, built in flutter.
- 3. pitch & ship — ideas were pitched to the ceo; approved ones went to production.
key solutions
cloud mining — calculator → preset packages
the purchase flow was one large calculator: powerful, but a wall for a first buy. i replaced the open-ended sandbox with curated contract tiers as cards — fixed power, price, and duration — in a pattern a web3 buyer reads instantly. the calculator stayed below for power users; the cards became the default, lower-friction way in. designing the card pattern and landing the flow on it was mine.

invest — one entry to every product
the home had to keep the wallet, so there was nowhere to surface the range. i proposed a single “invest” entry that opens a menu of all products — cloud mining, mining farm, indexes, staking — and lets users drill into each. it added the product layer without touching the wallet-first home.
indexes — a new basket product
indexes is a new product: invest in a curated basket of tokens for a fixed term, instead of picking single coins. i designed the flow end to end — selection, custom basket names and icons, package duration, and how a position lives in the wallet. each index carries a news feed on its tokens, so a user can judge what they’re buying from data, not just a name.

web, comms & 3d (owned)
outside the app i owned the visual communication: 3d graphics built in ~2 months, reusable cover and social templates that cut production time, promo and campaign assets, and contributions to the design system alongside the ui/ux team.
outcomes
the redesign direction and the solutions the ceo approved shipped to production. the work was deliverable-led in a top-down org — no public launch metrics were tracked.
what i take from it — turning a heavy, expert tool into a low-friction first purchase, and designing a new product flow from zero.
